How student application and interview data moves through Rolebird.
This page explains current product behaviour in plain language. Rolebird's Privacy Statement and Terms remain the governing documents and should be reviewed before a pilot.
Reduce, process, use and control
Different information follows different paths. A provider should examine each stage rather than treating "student data" as one undifferentiated category.
- Reduce identifiers. The student is instructed to remove direct identifiers and generalise employer names where appropriate before upload.
- Submit documents. The student submits their CV, optional base letter and a selected job advertisement after the identifier review.
- Prepare and practise. Application outputs, typed answers and transcribed spoken answers are associated with the student's account.
- Export or delete. The student can export account information and request account deletion, subject to the retention described in the Privacy Statement.
The automated scan assists the student; it is not described as exhaustive
Some detected categories block an upload until the document changes. Other findings warn the student, who can review, amend or consciously accept them. The scan does not detect every employer name or date.
Blocking
Some findings stop the upload. The student must change the document before continuing when the scan detects a category configured as blocking - contact details, government and financial identifiers, addresses.
Warning
Other findings require a decision. The student is shown the finding - a likely name, a referee's details, a social handle - and can amend the document or proceed after reviewing it.
Boundary
Automated detection has limits. It cannot detect company names and cannot reliably catch exact dates - the product tells students their own review is still required.
What is processed, stored and kept on the device
CV and base letter
Submitted after the identifier-removal step. Some AI processing uses an overseas provider, as described in the Privacy Statement.
Job advertisement
Used with the student's documents to prepare application material and interview questions for the selected role.
Generated material
Cover letters, CV suggestions, requirement screening, positioning notes and interview-session content are associated with the account.
Spoken answers
Speech-to-text runs in the student's browser. Audio is not uploaded; the resulting answer text is submitted in the same way as a typed answer.
Stored content
Stored documents, generated materials and interview transcripts are encrypted at rest.
Account controls
The student can export account information and delete the account. Any retained payment records are governed by the Privacy Statement.
The proposed default does not expose an individual student's work
For a pilot, the proposed reporting boundary is aggregate participation information and non-identifying survey feedback. Any final reporting arrangement would be agreed before students are invited.
